Our Story

Born in Busan, Raised by the Pacific

Chef Ji-Yeon Park grew up waking before dawn to help her grandmother sort the morning catch at Jagalchi Market in Busan, South Korea. Every fish had a story — a family, a sea, a season.

After training under Michelin-starred chefs in Seoul and San Francisco, Ji-Yeon opened Haean in 2018 with one conviction: the best seafood needs only honesty. A confident sauce, a Korean grandmother's instinct, and an unwavering commitment to the ocean's finest.

Haean — meaning “coastline” in Korean — is her love letter to two oceans and the cultures they carry.
